Gladiators Beat Cedar Over Two Days

The Gladiators trailed 14-12 with one minute in the first quarter when lighting forced school officials to postpone the game until Saturday. But the Glads (1-2, 1-1 in Region 8-AAAAA) took advantage of their chance to regroup and rolled past Cedar Shoals (0-2, 0-1) 44-29.

It was Clarke Central’s first win of the season, and its seventh consecutive win over the Jags.

Daniels racked up more than 130 rushing yards, including a 74-yard scoring run to give the Gladiators their first lead of the game with 5:39 left in the first half. Kennon Morrison scored twice, including a long run in the fourth quarter. Senior quarterback Aakeem Wise punched in a 1-yard touchdown, and connected with Marcus Campbell on scoring passes of 21 and 23 yards.

Clarke Central held a 24-21 lead at halftime. They opened the second half by recovering an onsides kick. Morrison scored on the ensuing drive.

Clarke Central is 1-1 in region play will play Salem Friday at 7:30 for Home Coming.
